Unable to connect to HANA SAP Netweaver instance on CAL from Remote Desktop

I've followed the instructions on creating a trial instance of SAP Application Server ABAP 7.4 SP5 with SAP NetWeaver AS as documented here - https://caldocs.hana.ondemand.com/caldocs/help/ABAP74SP5_HANASP7_CVA_Trial_Tech_brief_user_guide.pdf.


The part I'm stuck on is connecting to the instance via Remote Desktop. In fact, the IP address of the instance on CAL is not reachable by ping. Also when I do a port scan, there are no ports open for the IP address. I did set up an access point when configuring the instance in CAL for port 3389 as a type of "Custom TCP". Is there something else that needs to be configured for this?

Demo appliance landscape AWS deployment issues

Hello


I have tried to create instance on with SAP Fiori test system on Monday on AWS.

Instance showed status "undefined". I could not either start it nor terminate it. When I have logged in on Tuesday it was gone from the list of instances I have created but I have noticed that charge of 0.21$ have been added to my account.

Yesterday I have created another instance. This time it got created and started fine however after logging in via remote desktop I could not connect to SAP system (see attached) therefore I have terminated it. After that a charge of 3.83$ has been added to my account.

Another 24 hours later my balance reads 4.06$ despite the fact there was no further activity on my account.

I have contacted AWS but I think SAP should accept some responsibility since the only way to deploy trial systems is via cloud infrastructure which from my personal experience is far from reliable.

Trying to use CAL for the first time. I logged in with SSO. Solutions available to be activated can't be opened and Free solutions that I try to activate result in the following message: An error occurred; contact your SAP Cloud Appliance Library operator

Change Region of existing HANA instance

Hello,

 

We are facing the following problem. We have a HANA cloud instance which by mistake we have opened in Asia Pacific region in AWS. The result is that we have increased latency due to the remote location. (We are accessing the instance mainly from Europe). Is it possible to change the region of the AWS instance? Creating a new instance in the new region is not an option since we have performed a substantial amount of work which we do not want to lose.

A4H and HDB systems not starting in SAP MMC for BW on HANA trial

Hi,

 

I followed all the steps to create an account in AWS and activate a trial version of SAP BW 7.4 on HANA and SAP BO 4.1. The instance activated correctly in the SAP CAL with a green status. The instance was created in the region us-east-1c. I am currently in Australia.

 

But when I logon with the remote desktop, and go to the SAP MMC, I see that the A4H and HDB systems have not started and are not green. When I try to start them manually I get the error below. Please help. My SDN userid is P052405.

Hello

 

I have set up the Demo appliance landscape for the openSAP course "Introduction to SAP Fiori UX", on AWS.

 

The frontend machine is OK, but the configuration and startup of the server machine has failed for some reason. When logging in with ssh to the server, this message is presented:

 

The Appliance Agent detected an error and terminated.

When asked, please provide the file /tmp/applianceagent_20141002-145658.tar.bz2.

Note that a restrictive iptables based firewall is still active.

 

I have attached the file (had to add .txt to the name to circumvent file type restrictions).

 

I noticed that the appliancedeploy.log ended with these lines:

 

Start database  Execute /usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/sapcontrol -nr 02 -function StartWait 3600 20

FAIL: Timeout

error in /tmp/applianceagent/scripts/Database.sh: Start database  failed with exit code 2

 

Notice the 1 hour jump in time, and then the timeout error message.

 

Do any of you have any idea what could be causing this, and how to fix it?

BW on Hana trial: Unable to connect to A4H

Hi

 

In June I created a free BW on Hana Developer Edition trial on AWS (I selected the version without BO to get a free license - AS ABAP incl. BW 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP8 [Developer Edition]). I ony used it a couple of times so far. Now I am able to start my instance and log on to the remote logon. Everything looks good, but when i try to log on to BW (A4H) with SAP GUI or connect to A4H from Hana Studio I only get the error message that "partner not reached" or unable to connect to A4H.  

 

I tried to stop and then start the instance again but it did not solve the issue.

 

On the desktop there is a text document called A4H. I opened it and theres some license info there. There I can see the text EXPIRATION=20140909. So does this mean that A4H do not respond because there is some license that has expired? I thought this was a free trial license with no limitations in days like the other....

 

Has anyone else encountered the same?

I have successfull installed and been running 'SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP5 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP7 [Developer Edition]'

 

In my CAL-account I have seen that 'SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP8 [Developer Edition]' has become available.


Searching 'AWS Marketplace' with 'SAP HANA one' only brings up the version (SP5-7) I already have installed. How am I supposed to proceed to install the latest version (SP8-8)?

BW on HANA Trial connectivity issue

Hi,

 

I am using SAP BW on hana trial version along with AWS services.

 

I connected with system and its in active state after successfully configuration.

 

Now the problem is I am not able to connect with specified IP address with SAP frontend. I tried to ping the IP but not responding the same.

 

Can someone help me please.

Cannot connect after suspend + activate of "Introduction to SAP Fiori UX" instance

Hello

 

After successfully installing and testing that I could connect to my "Introduction to SAP Fiori UX" instance on AWS, I suspended it.

 

Today, I activated it in the SAP HANA CAL interface, and after 10 minutes it showed status: Active.

 

However, I can no longer connect with SAP GUI, and also cannot connect to the Fiori web page.

 

After login to the SAP server machine with ssh, I can actually telnet to port 1090, and there is a web response, so I guess that it must be some kind of firewall or routing issue. I tried disabling the firewall on the machine, but that did not help.

 

Do any of you have any idea what could be causing this, and how to fix it?

 

The "Introduction to SAP Fiori UX" appliance is version 5, installed Friday evening, last week.

My AWS account supports only VPC.

 

Please let me know if you need any further information.

Why is the instance not installed with AWS in my region (US instead of Europe)

Yesterday I installed the  'SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP8 [Developer Edition]' over through CAL ( caltdc.netweaver.ondemand.com ) and ended up with an instance in AWS running in region US (Virginia) instead of Europe (Ireland) where I am based.


Previously I installed 'SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP5 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP7 [Developer Edition]' which I could select in the AWS Marketplace and thereby selecting machine size and location myself.


I intended to do the same today, but could not find the current dev edition above for selection in the AWS Marketplace.


Why not?


Running both instance in parallell today I noticed a clear difference in service level between the AWS instance running in Ireland and the new one running in the US.

I am encountering the following error when I try to activate AWS HANA through SAP CAL

 

"We are sorry, we cannot provide you with the solution due to the results of an export control check"


There seems to be a solution floating around but I can't seem to find the details.

I need help to delete my account in sap hanna virtual machine

Problems by just deleting my account on aws.amazon but forgot to delete the intancia in HANA sap, she is now open and the cost is getting too high, I try to delete or disable the instance however an error occurs and the message "An error occurred, contact your SAP Cloud Appliance Library operator "

someone help me know how I delete my account and end up with the cost of vitual machine.

Missing software components on Fiori UX system

Hello,

 

I've activated a demo appliance landscape for the OpenSAP course "Introduction to SAP Fiori UX" and it turns out that 2 software components are missing in order to be able to test the workflow functionality in SAP Fiori. It concerns the following components: IW_PGW & UIX01CA1.

 

I've been told to import these components to the demo system, but since I'm only a freelancer with a limited s-account on SAP Service I run into problems. I managed to get the .sar files for the components, but now I also need to install SAPCAR on the Remote Desktop. First of all I don't have SAPCAR and can't download it and secondly I'm not sure if it's possible and how much time and data this will cost to install it. And even if I succeed then I will need to figure out how to import the components into SAP using all kinds of Basis-transaction like SPAN, SAINT and soforth.

 

Can anybody advise me what to do? Is there a CAL Helpdesk that I can contact, or is someone from CAL reading this forum? Is it possible to upgrade the standard solution provided by CAL for this system? I've been amazed by the ease how to activate a training system for myself,  but to be frankly I'm a bit dissapointed that this standard functionality is missing.

Missing snapshot for introduction to SAP Fiori UX

Hello, I'm trying to set up the CAL instance for the introduction to SAP Fiori UX. First time it only created the small (m1.small) instance where the sap ui runs on , that instance I terminated using the CAL console. Second attempt the Large (r3.8xlarge)  instance was created but now I got the error message that: AMAZON:The snapschot 'snap-66e66ac5'does not exist", and the rest of the activation stopped , so no SAP GUI available.

 

Is this a known issue ? An what to do ?

Hello All. I'm creating an instance on the SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP8 [Developer Edition) and when entering the general properties, the Static IP option is grayed.

 

There is no other option than to have running this instance on an Static IP Address?

 

If this is the case, is a no go for me.

I created and activated an instance in CAL today, the ERP on HANA trial.

 

Once this instance is activated ("green button"), the "connect" option appears but I'm not able to connect to it using http or SAP Gui.

 

I have no firewall, the error is:

 

This webpage is not available

 

Could you help me?
