I use How to create a SAP HANA Developer Edition in the cloud for settings environment. I have a problem with creation "instance" in AWS.
Is exist some requirements for AWS settings like:
- to have Amazon EC2 in cloud
- set certain account permission for Amazon EC2 (I mean some policy)
Or any preset in AWS is NOT required?

Hi All,
Trying to get BW 7.4 on HANA trial on CAL. I've selected AWS as service provider, created instance for HANA under EC2 on AWS. I've also created new IAM group and user. Downloaded the access key and used it to register on CAL.
Now when I try to start instance, status is shown as unknown. I see only SAP Frontend with Green Status and SAP Server is not started.
I can do remote desktop and see the Application but cannot login as DB is not available.
what is missing?
I tried to add a PIP (instance-level Public address) to the HANA VM on Azure - (Get-AzureVM - ServiceName SAP_HANA_123 - Name SAP_HANA | Set-AzurePublicIPName MySAPHANAPublicIP | Update-AzureVM) which works fine, but the Solution won't start after this indicating that Public IP is not supported for the Instance.
How can I assign a static Public IP address for out Instance of HANA on Azure? This is required so that we can configure our corporate firewall.

In the past I have created CAL / AWS instances of Hana Developer Edition. These are SUSE Linux instances.
Now I am reading the user guide for the CAL of SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP5 incl. SAP Business Objects BI 4.1 SP2 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP7. The first few pages cover connecting to the image with a remote desktop connection (RDC) and accessing the SAP Management Console. The screen shots in these instructions clearly show the user connecting to a Windows Server but I understood Hana ran only on a SUSE Linux system.
My local technical experts have suggested there are two servers running. Logon Details (on page 6) provide Linux logon credentials as well as a BI4 operating system user. This seems to imply multiple AWS instances but nowhere in the CAL site did I see instructions to create multiple AWS instances.
Can someone provide insight into how this is structured with regards to operating systems?

I get the failure notification; "We are sorry, the solution is not provided for your country at this time." when I try to activate SAP HANA Development edition in HANA Cloud Appliance Library (CAL).
Please who has experience similar problem, I need help.
The 30 days trial is eqaully not avaliable anymore since July 15, 2014.
I have created my AWS account and the issue now is how to get the Free edition SAP HANA Server.

I am new to SAP env. I am trying to install "SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse 7.4 incl. usage type BI Java on SAP MaxDB – Trial Edition" using CAL. Installation & activation is apparently transparent to the user. 4 out of 5 times, after activation when I access to the server I just see a plain suse OS without SAP related components (/sap , /sapmnt). In some cases ssh connection is not working properly even. So I re-install it in those cases. Existing instances on the cloud seems to work fine and can be accessed through VPN without any problem. unstable installation only occurs to SAP instances, not to the other type of images that AWS provides(I tried ~20 different generic images, all worked fine without any problems).
The problem I would like to mention is different. after several installation, I couldn't get to the web ui(<ip address>:50000/irj) or SAP GUI. ( I followed the documentation so far). As in CAL interface there are not so much to configure, I assume this is also because of wrong installation like before.
Is this unstable nature normal? What are possible approaches for fixing those problems?

we had been successfully running a trial ERP on HANA, but after re-activating it is not possible to log-in any longer and the the following licensing error is displayed:
Checking transactions SLICENSE (with SAP*, because that is the only user that can still log-on) it seems that the license is not valid any longer:
Could this be fixed, e.g. with a new license? Or would we have to kill this instance and start with a new instance from scratch?

After re-installing(terminate/create instance) appliance for lets say 20 times, I managed to get it work. however, after suspend/activate it stops working again.
I already tried to get some help about my installation problem and described it in the following topic
My question is simple. how do I get support about this inconsistency? It is definitely not user related problem. solution installation is automated by SAP. however this automated installation almost never works? How can I get any help for that? I am at the edge of stop trying CAL. it is very annoying and unproductive for me to do any development relying on CAL based solution.(well at least for , "SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse 7.4 incl. usage type BI Java on SAP MaxDB" version)
When can we expect to see solutions on CAL that can be deployed to Azure. At this stage I only see the HANA Developers Edition.

Is it possible to use R language on SAP HANA Free Trial? It seems like it is impossible to activate this package.
May it is viable something else on this environment with neural algorithms?

Thanks for providing a free BW sytem on HANA environment, every thing works fine with respect to the SAP-BW system. Was able to load some million rows of data in quick time.
However there are some licenses issues with other tools like Predicitve analysis and Business objects.
We were planning to build a prototype to one of our potential clients. Hence would appreciate if you can fix this.Please have a look at attached images.

SAP has launched 18 c3.8xlarge instances in my AWS cloud account (see attached screenshot). That will cost me $8.000! There is no contact information in cal.sap.com so I'm posting this here.

I created an instance of ABAP 7.4 with BI developer edition but with the wrong AWS account. When I realized this I tried to terminate the instance. It looked like the termination was successful so I closed that bad AWS account. However, the termination wasn't successful so now I have a "bad" instance hanging out there. I can't use this instance, change the AWS account (I should have just done this from the beginning but I didn't know you could), or even attempt to terminate it again as all operations are inactive.
Any ideas? At this point the only thing I can think of is to create a new S# but I hate to go that far as there has to be a way to remove this instance from my account. Attached is the error message I see when I look at my instances.

I can open the cockpit in a browser but some functions are not available due to missing database connection. ( Cannot save status information for purchase order 5500000006/00010; no connection to database. Contact your system administrator)
Can somebody explain how to check and configure that for this HANA solution?

Well, I left my SAP ERP Foundation Extension powered by SAP HANA - Fully Activated Appliance Landscape Trial suspended for about a week. When I re-activated the instance, I could connect to the SAP clients but not log in.
I get the "Logon not possible (error in license check)" message.
I also logged into my AWS console to look at the system log.
The log ends with a number of entries like:
This is R3trans version 6.24 (relesae 741 - 10.10.13 - 20:13:08 ).
unicode enabled version
2EETW169 no connect possible: "DBMS = HDB --- SERVER = '' PORT = ''"
R3trans finished (0012).
Is there anyway to fix this? or do I just terminate and start over, again. (yes, this is the forth or fifth time I've had to rebuild).

Hi all,
had to set up short timed a trial instance of SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.4 on SAP MaxDB in Amazon Cloud
Installtion was pretty straightforward but now if have the problem of accessing the frontend via RDP.
Connecting via ssh works fine but when it comes to rdp it just says something like "rdp not activated or computer not reachable or down". Ping is also not working.
The instance is created as public.
Tried to reach it from my corporate network (ports opened), from home, from mobile broadband. Same result, ssh working, rdp not.
Any ideas?

is the commercial use of developments possible or am I only allowed to test and develop in the CAL? I know that with the free trials it is not possible.
And I have another question: does every user in our company need an account or is it possible to create a "company" user for alle employees?

I am creating multiple CAL instances. The first created fine but the next two failed with an error saying my account is being verified with AWS. Is there a known limitation on the number of instances I can create under my AWS account? Can anyone provide guidance as to how to overcome this problem?

I am creating instances of multiple products on CAL. We have paid for four CAL licenses and unlocked the full library. None the less some offerings (specifically SAP CRM rapid-deployment solution (V5.703) fully-activated on SAP HANA BYOL) still show an icon stating we are not licensed. Our organisation has licenses for the products in question. Presumably SAP have some sort of database against which they are vetting our licenses. How do we get SAP to recognise our licenses and permit us to create these instances.
